Cowboy Baby Room

Few ideas I found for baby boy's cowboy room

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

Jeff said these would be fairly cheap and not too hard to make... so I want to make one longer end table like the one pictured, and a side table or two like this, and then some more vintage looking ones like the green on below as well for our guest room or front room...

End or Corner Table

I really like this table, not the green necessarily, but the oldish style of it... I wonder how hard it'd be to replicate?

Homemade Lemonade!

I haven't tried this recipe before, but Nick Cutler's sister-in-law made lemonade with these 4 ingredients (citric acid, water, sugar, and lemon extract) and it was SO good!

2 tablespoons citric acid (you can find this at most pharmacies or natural food stores)
5 quarts water
2 cups sugar
2 tablespoons pure lemon extract

Optional:
3 sliced lemons
3 sliced limes
Crushed ice

In a large pitcher or punch bowl, stir water, sugar, citric acid, and lemon extract together. Add sliced fruit and ice for decoration/ to help chill.

*Note: if you have leftover punch, remove the sliced limes and lemons before refrigerating. The limes and lemons will give the punch an overly sour acidic taste if the punch is stored overnight that way.

Rainbow Party

I probably would've picked a rainbow theme during my Rainbow Brite years... Lol.  But this idea from cousin Tiffany Nettles is so cute!

Detailed Camera Strap Covers

These were found on http://sheyb.bigcartel.com/.

I'm pretty sure I could make one myself!

This rosette one she calls "The Couture."  It's my favorite.  It's the one I want to try and make!

This is another style I like, that looks like it wouldn't be too hard:

Boy Cut Swimsuit Bottoms Patterns

I want to try making some before I go spending $50 to have someone else custom make them.  So, here are the websites and patterns I've found so far:

Red boy shorts in picture:

Instructions on how to make biking shorts, which can be made with swim suit fabric, so I think they'd work?

Vintage boy shorts

Boy shorts, although I'm not sure if they have the seam straight down the middle or not, kinda looks like it in some pictures.  (Which I am trying to avoid...)

These pictured patterns specify whether they have a boy short alternative

Single vintage pattern size 12, but I think it'd work for me:

The McCall's 9352 patterns near the bottom look like the bandeau bottoms might be boy cut?  Or might work...

Baby Booties

These were made for Kali Meng's little girl Miley, by a friend?  I think, I can't remember.  But they are super cute!

Baby Crib: Old-Fashioned Style

This is just adorable.  My friend from high school Leah (Enzler) Taylor's dad made this for her.  I love it!  I would love it if Jeff made something like this someday for us...

Fairy Tutus (or Pettiskirts...)

This is kinda trendy right now, and I think it's so cute, especially on babies.  It seems like they should be fairly easy to make... I've never examined one in person, but I could make it up, right?

(And I love the flower headband in this one...)

(Oh, and I think this little girl is seriously the cutest girl I've ever seen, I hope our kids are as cute as her!)

And this one was found on another website.  It's made out of something else that's not tulle, it looks like.  It may have been called a pettiskirt instead...  Super cute with the black shirt and headband.  Love it!

Baby Texture Blanket

I thought I already posted about this, but I can't find it.  So here it is:

It's a baby blanket I helped make for Jenny & Baylie with Dot, Brea, and Jaime.

It had various textures mixed together on one side for helping babies learn?  Or something like that.  Super cute idea.

Spring Cleaning tips and potions

This was listed on Nicole's blog, found here:

Tips That Work
1)  For icy door steps in freezing temperatures get warm water and put Dawn dishwashing liquid in it.  Pour it all over the steps.  They won’t refreeze.
2)  Sealed envelope:  Put in the freezer for a few hours, then slide a knife under the flap.
3)  Hairspray will kill pesky flies and bees.
4)  Crayon marks on walls?  This worked wonderfully!  A damp rag, dipped in baking soda.  Comes off with a little elbow grease (effort).
5)  Use empty toilet paper roll to store appliance cords.
6)  Permanent marker on appliances/counter tops (like blue store receipts) rubbing alcohol on paper towel.
7)  Blood stains on clothes?  Just pour a little peroxide on a cloth and proceed to wipe off the blood.  Don’t wait too long.  Works every time.
8)  Use vertical strokes when washing windows outside and horizontal for inside windows.  This way ou can tell which side has the streaks.  Straight vinegar will get out side windows really clean.  Don’t wash windows on a sunny day.   They will probably streak.
9)  Spray a bit of perfume on the light bulb in any room to create that scent when the light is turned on.  Place fabric softener sheets in dresser drawers to keep them smelling fresh.
10)  Candles will last a lot longer if placed in the freezer for at least 3 hours prior to burning.
11)  To easily remove burnt on food from you skillet, add a drop or two of dish soap and enough water to cover bottom of pan, and bring to a boil on the stovetop.
12)  Spray you Tupperware with nonstick cooking spray before pouring in tomato based sauces and there won’t be any stains.
13)  Wrap celery in aluminum foil when putting in the refrigerator and it will keep for weeks.
14)  When boiling corn on the cob, add a pinch of sugar to help bring out the corn’s natural sweetness.
15)  Cure for headaches:  Take a lime, cut it in half and rub it on your forehead.  The throbbing will go away.  (I haven’t tried this one.)
16)  To get rid of itch from mosquito bites, try applying soap on the area for relief.
17)  Look what you can do with Alka Seltzer:
*Clean a toilet by dropping in two tablets, wait twenty minutes, brush and flush.  The citric acid and effervescent action clean vitreous China.
*Clan a vase.  To remove a stain from the bottom of a glass vase, fill with water and drop in two tablets.
*Polish jewelry.  Drop two tablets into a glass of water and immerse the jewelry for two minutes.
*Unclog a drain.  Clear the sink drain by dropping 3 tablets down the drain followed by a cup a White Vinegar.  Wait a few minutes and then run the hot water.
