Baby Texture Blanket

I thought I already posted about this, but I can't find it.  So here it is:

It's a baby blanket I helped make for Jenny & Baylie with Dot, Brea, and Jaime.

It had various textures mixed together on one side for helping babies learn?  Or something like that.  Super cute idea.

Cookies & Milk Baby Shower by Nicole

Nicole planned and decorated this baby shower for a friend.  What a fun idea!  All different kinds of cookies, and little fancy glasses of milk.

Love Notes on the Shower Walls

Tiffany from mypetitepurse.blogspot.com made a post about these the other day: using Crayola shower markers to write love notes to each other on the shower walls.

I just thought this was a fun and cute idea, whether for Valentine's Day, or just to have around for when we can't shower together... ;)

She also heard they're hard to find in stores, but found them to buy here: http://www.crayolastore.com/product_detail.asp?T1=CRA+023002&.

Ashley's SIL Michelle made this cake, which I think is super cute!  And she used a marshmallow fondant frosting recipe that you melt and pour over, instead of normal hard fondant:

I also found this diaper cake on a website, though I can't remember where:

I've made a few diaper cakes before, at various times, (for Rachel Callan, Tessa Egan, Suzannah Beesley, and Anne Waldrop):
But mine obviously weren't as big or extravagant as that one!  Crazy.

12 Days of Christmas Ring-and-Run Gift Idea!

Here is a “ring and run” activity to do with the children. Buy the items listed below, make their tags, and have the kids start dropping them off, one each day of course, to a special friend on December 13. Do this after dark, or leave them on the porch when they aren’t home, and don’t get caught! This is a good way to that giving can be fun.

ON THE FIRST DAY OF CHRISTMAS, your true love gave to you…a partridge in a pear tree. Sorry, but we can’t find the partridge, so we are giving you some pears from the tree the partridge flew away from. (attach to a can of pears)

ON THE SECOND DAY OF CHRISTMAS, your true love gave to you…two turtle doves…but don’t’ have any…will candy turtles with a bar of Dove soap do? (attach note to a box or plate of caramel turtles w/ a boxed bar of Dove soap.)

ON THE THIRD DAY OF CHRISTMAS, your true love gave to you…three French hens…well, we don’t have any French hens, so we’re giving you some chicken noodle soup, compliments of the three French hens. (attach to can of chicken noodle soup).

ON THE FOURTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, your true love gave to you…four calling birds…we can’t find those calling birds though! Here are 4 messages they left for you before they flew off! (attach to 4 messages describing what a wonderful person they are)

ON THE FIFTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, your true love gave to you…five golden rings, but sorry, we’re too poor for golden rings, but will some golden pineapple rings do? (attach to can of pineapple rings)

ON THE SIXTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, your true love gave to you…six geese a laying, but we know you don’t really want the mess of six geese all over your house, do you? How about some eggs that they left behind! (attach to a half dozen eggs)

ON THE SEVENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, your true love gave to you…seven swans a swimming! OK, we looked for the swans, but couldn’t find them, but we did find some bubble bath they used while they were swimming! (attach to bottle of bubble bath)

ON THE EIGHTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, your true love gave to you…eight maids a-milking. Here is some milk we got from the eight maids — we think they must have been milking some brown cows! (attach to a container of chocolate milk)

ON THE NINTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, your true love gave to you…nine ladies dancing…Here are some canes used by the nine ladies who were out dancing all night! (attach to a nine candy canes)

ON THE TENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS: your true love gave to you…ten lords-a-leapin’ – here is some “Ben Gay”, which is highly recommended by the ten Lords we saw out jumping around. (attach to a package of Ben Gay rubbing lotion)

ON THE ELEVENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, your true love gave to you…eleven pipers piping, so here is a pipe of your own, have fun with it, but don’t “blow” the whole day! (attach to a bubble pipe and bubble solution)

ON THE TWELFTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, your true love gave to you…twelve drummers drumming, but we figured twelve drummers drumming would take up way too much room, so we drummed up some cookies for you…hope they keep this from being just another hum-”drum” day for you! (attach to a plate of cookies)

"Pop Top Can" treat

Super cute gift idea, found from Jeff's cousin Tiffany:

Buy some cans with pop top lids, but flat bottoms, (like cream of chicken soup.)
Cut open the bottom with a can opener, and fill with candy
Glue bottom back on with a glue gun, so that the recipient has to pop open the top to see what's inside!

So cute! I love it and can't wait to make some!

Cowgirl Cookies

Cute gift idea, and way to spiff up a cookie mix!

Found at: http://bakerella.blogspot.com/2009/08/mix-things-up.html

Start with a 1 quart smooth Ball jar. Found at Hobby Lobby craft store.

Layer the ingredients in like this:

First: flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt
Second: oats
Third: m&ms
Fourth: chocolate chips
Fifth: brown sugar
Sixth: white sugar
Seventh: chopped pecans

Pack each level down really tightly. I mean it. Pack it in. Or else it won't all fit. Also, I added the chopped pecans last, because if the ingredients were too much or not enough, then I could add more or less pecans to adjust. I'd rather sacrifice nuts than chocolate, you know. The ingredients should be flush to the top of the lid when you seal it up.

RECIPE:
Cowgirl Cookies

1 1/3 cup all purpose flour, spooned into measuring cup & leveled
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup cooking oats
3/4 cup m&ms
3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup white sugar
1/3 - 1/2 cup chopped pecans

Stir all the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl.

Add

1 slightly beaten egg
1/2 cup butter (melted slightly in the microwave)
1 teaspoon vanilla

Mix wet ingredients into dry ingredients. Use the back of a large spoon to work it all together. You may even need to use your hands to get everything incorporated.

Then roll the cookie dough into 1 1/2 inch balls, place on a parchment covered baking sheet and bake for about 10 minutes in a preheated 350 degree oven. I got about 26-28 cookies out of these.

Cute critters for holidays/parties

Super cute for holidays and parties (or both!)

Christmas Mice (or they could be varied- change the holly to something else, and used for something else)

Or they'd be super cute for a Cinderella themed party

One side of an oreo, maraschino cherries, chocolate bark to dip cherries in, kisses, almond slivers, colored gel tube frosting

Thanksgiving Turkeys

Oreos, Reese's, small whoppers, candy corn, frosting that sets fast

Easter Nests

Chow mein noodles, marshmallows, butter, candy eggs

Party Monkeys

Chocolate frosted cupcakes (could probably use reeses cups too), nutter butter cookies, vanilla wafers, m'n'm's, and colored gel tube frosting
